According to the NYSDOH and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) -
Tickborne diseases are on the rise, NYS is 1 of 14 states which accounts for over 96% of Lyme Disease cases that are reported to the CDC. The longer a tick stays attached, the greater the risk for disease transmission. Not all ticks are infected.
The NYS Department of Education requires parental/guardian permission for the School Nurse to remove a tick. Permission forms will be sent home with summer information, complete and return at the beginning of each school year. You can also print a form from the School Health Office - Resource list on this website.
