Worcester Central School strives to provide an environment that is positive and supportive of the needs of every child as he or she works to develop to their highest potential.  The faculty and staff believe that all students can learn and achieve regardless of their previous performance, family background, socioeconomic status, race and/or gender.  Further, in collaboration with parents and guardians, we have the responsibility to instill those values that society espouses such as accountability, trust, respect, commitment and work ethic.  It is our goal that in working together, every student will leave Worcester with the ability to approach the demands that they will be faced with after graduation.

New York State Education Law Section 2-d requires that all school districts introduce an inventory of programs used in the school environment on their websites and make such a document publicly available. Schools must also provide a clear description of the various data elements collected by the programs and applications including student, teacher and administrator Personally Identifiable Information (PII). To that end, we are pleased to introduce just such an inventory which is listed below. In addition to the required information, more resources such as legal or regulatory documentation may be added to this public resource further outlining the reasons particular data elements are collected as well as the intended uses. Below you will find a link to our inventory list and a description of the programs currently in use in our schools with links to each company's privacy policies. This public portal will be continuously updated as new security information is received or as new technological applications are integrated into the school environment.

2020 Water Testing at WCS
In 2016 New York State became the first in the nation to require schools to test all water outlets currently or potentially used for drinking or cooking purposes for lead levels. A second round of testing was required in the year 2020.
In accordance with the law, the Worcester Central School District had water samples collected throughout the building. The samples have been sent and analyzed by a state-approved laboratory and the district received results on January 4, 2020.

Testing Results
According to New York state, if the lead level from a tested water outlet exceeds the action level of 15 parts per billion (ppb), the district is required to take immediate action.  
 
The school district must notify staff and all parents and guardians of the results of these tests and any additional actions regarding water testing or remediation that may be necessary. At all times, WCS will ensure that all students and staff have an adequate supply of water for drinking and cooking.

On December 3, 2020, 66 samples were collected and throughout building and the recent results indicate two readings above the action level of 15 parts per billion (ppb):
  • Basement Sink had an action level of 36.3 ppb 
  • Room 127 Sink-North had an action level of 20.2 ppb
