With an aging transportation fleet and rising maintenance costs, the Board of Education is presenting a bus purchase referendum to residents on December 16, 2014. The proposed purchase would replace four old buses and a mini-van with two 65-passenger buses, one 28-passenger bus and a mini-van that is used primarily for special education transportation. The buses being replaced range in mileage from 68,000 to over 90,000 miles and currently require significant fiscal and human resources to address mechanical and body repair costs.
