Lockdown Drill 10-14-21

October 14, 2021

Dear Worcester Parents and Guardians,

The safety and welfare of our students, staff and visitors is the highest priority at Worcester Central School. We routinely review our safety plans, practice safety drills, and collaborate with law enforcement to establish and maintain a safe school environment.

Today, with the assistance of the New York State Police, we practiced a lockdown drill. I am pleased to report that our students and staff did an excellent job following our procedures throughout the course of the drill.

Our staff will evaluate today’s drill and and fine tune our safety procedures. This is also an excellent time for you to talk with your child about staying calm during any emergency. I encourage you to discuss with your child the elements of a lockdown drill which include: teachers locking their classroom doors; students practicing strategies to stay safe, quiet and out of sight while in the classroom or other school locations; and remaining calm and in place until police officers and administrators enter the room.

By working together, we can help keep our students, staff, and visitors safe at Worcester Central School. I thank you for entrusting us with you with your children and for your partnership in keeping safety our top priority at WCS.

Sincerely,

Tim Gonzales

Superintendent
