Welcome Back!

August 31, 2021

Good Evening Worcester Families,

I hope you are having a terrific end to your summer break. We have been busy preparing for the start of the 2021-2022 school year which is just one week away. We are very excited to welcome our WCS students back in-person, 5 full days a week!

Our primary goals are to continue to provide a safe learning environment and remain in-person for the 2021-2022 school year. Many of the protocols will remain the same as when we left for the summer and all updates to our opening plan from last year are available on our website at https://filecabinet10.eschoolview.com/C2410F5F-2586-49F8-804B-E90ED1D2F53D/42becadb-3ed9-4cb3-b32b-2bef3f1146b6.pdf . Here are a few important reminders and updates for students and adults at Worcester Central School for the upcoming year:

    School Day:

  • Pre-K-12 in-person learning starts Tuesday, September 7, 2021.

  • Doors will open at 7:45 a.m.

  • Students can enter and go to breakfast or to their lockers.

  • The school day begins at 7:57 a.m. and ends at 2:58 p.m.

    Screenings:

  • Social Contracts are no longer required.

  • Please conduct a self-health assessment prior to reporting to school.

  • Individuals who are sick, or have symptoms consistent with COVID-19 should stay home and notify the school office at (607) 397-8785.

    Procedures & Expectations:

  • Masks on campus - pursuant to the NY Department of Health mandate any person over the age of 2 (including all students, teachers, administrators, staff, contractors, and visitors) must wear masks at all times while inside school buildings, regardless of vaccination status.

  • People do not need to wear masks when eating, drinking, singing, or playing a wind instrument; when masks are removed for these purposes, individuals must be spaced six feet apart.

  • Masks are required by all individuals on school transportation.

We hope that by utilizing the above referenced mitigation measures WCS will remain in-person for as long as possible. We know our students learn best whan they are at school. As a reault, we all need to do our part to support their education and ensure a safe learning environment.

I would like to thank all our families. With your continued patience and support we will once again successfully navigate the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. The WCS staff is eager to begin working with your child and providing them the best education possible.

Respectfully,

Tim Gonzales
Superintendent
