Thank You WCS Families!

Dear Worcester Families,

It is hard to believe the school year has come to an end. I want to take this opportunity to express my most sincere gratitude. In the best of times schools operate under a unique set of rules and expectations that maintain the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff. This year our school community was met with challenges like never before and in ways no one could have ever imagined.

However, despite the many unknowns our school community responded in a manner true to the Worcester strength seen before. As we have completed our last day of school, I encourage you to look back on what we have accomplished together. Our school stayed in-person longer than most schools in our state and even around the county. We worked through constantly changing and often contradictory directives, managed many quarantined and COVID positive students, faculty and staff.

In the end, WCS did what most organizations could not do during the pandemic and this success was accomplished because of your partnership, support and commitment to do what was right for our students. I could not be prouder of our students, faculty, staff, and families who balanced the fear of a pandemic with the importance of student learning.

My hat is off to our students who followed new and changing protocols, wore masks at great uncomfortable lengths, and missed out on so many social, athletic and extracurricular events; to our teachers and staff who sanitized constantly, taught and worked all day wearing masks, and balanced in-person and remote teaching at a moment’s notice; to our parents and guardians who screened their children every day, missed so many days of work for quarantined students or remote learning, didn’t see their children perform in plays, concerts or athletic contests, and supported WCS faculty and staff throughout the year.

As an educator of over twenty years, I can attest that this year was the most difficult by far. However, I am both proud and comforted that as a community we held each other up, worked together and pressed forward to navigate a horrific pandemic to give our students the best year possible.

In closing, and on behalf of all the WCS faculty and staff, I thank you for your never-ending patience and for helping to make this year a success. Once again, we have proved to be WOLVERINE STRONG! I look forward to an even better 2021-22 school year and know that whatever lies ahead, together our school community will meet it head on. I wish you all a very safe and relaxing summer, you and your children have earned it!

Respectfully,

Tim Gonzales
