Lockdown Drill Notification
Dear WCS Parents and Guardians:

The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. One of the ways we stay safe is by following our emergency response plan’s safety protocols such as Lockdown Drills. As result, in the next week we will be practicing our first lockdown drill of the school year. On the day of the drill, when the drill starts and is complete, you will be notified through our automated notification system SchoolMessenger.

The purpose of a lockdown drill is to keep everyone safe from any danger outside or inside of the building. During a lockdown drill, no one is permitted to enter or leave the school building. Classroom doors are secured, and students must remain inside their classroom until released by law enforcement and/or administrative staff.

Prior to practicing a lockdown drill, teachers will discuss the importance of this procedure with students. After the drill, students will be reminded that there was no danger, and the drill was to practice our procedures. When possible, the law enforcement will observe and assist during the lockdown drill.

I ask that you please take a few moments to speak with your child about these procedures and reinforce their importance. Below are resources to help you talk to your children. By practicing drills, we are able to continually improve our emergency response, and we appreciate your support in helping to maintain a safe school community.

Respectfully,
Tim Gonzales
