Dear WCS Families,
I hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable time with family and friends during the Thanksgiving recess. During this season of reflection and giving thanks, I would like to express my appreciation to the dedicated students, faculty, staff and families of WCS. Although this school year has presented many challenges, it has not reduced the commitment that exemplifies the Worcester Central School District.
As we return to school tomorrow, I wanted to share with you some important updates and reminders.
COVID-19 Update
Since Thanksgiving Day, we have learned of 4 student positive cases. Our goal from the start of the school year has been to remain with in-person learning. However, this is only achieved if we all do our part. I cannot stress enough how important it is to screen you child before sending them to school. Sending your child to school when they are demonstrating COVID-19 symptoms; or sending them to school and telling them to say they feel fine if asked, only adds to the number of students who must quarantine. As a result of our recent positive cases our Kindergarten classes will be remote this week and numerous students in other grade levels will be quarantined. So again, please keep your child home if they show any symptoms of COVID-19.
Merger Vote
Just a reminder the final annexation merger vote will be held on Wednesday, December 1st, from 12 p.m. (Noon) to 8 p.m. in the WCS library. Regardless of which side of the merger you stand, I encourage you to come out and cast your vote.
Winter Athletics
As we move into the winter athletic season, and with COVID-19 cases rising, we must limit our in-person fans. As a result, each home basketball player and cheerleader will be allowed 2 home spectators with use of spectator lanyard ticket. Only spectators with a lanyard ticket will be allowed entry for their player’s/cheerleader’s game.
However, we know watching the game is important, so we will be live streaming the games on the NFHS website ( https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/schools/worcester-senior-high-school-na-ny ). WCS has purchased a subscription for all home games so please visit the link above and sign up for a free login. You can watch home games from your smart phone, tablet, or computer.
